APPARENTLY Tom Cruise had it in him after all.
The Hollywood superstar and Scientologist has announced he is expecting a child with Katie Holmes, the 26-year-old actor who swore she would remain a virgin until the pair married.
Cruise already has two adopted children from his 10-year marriage to Oscar-winning Australian actor Nicole Kidman - Isabella, 12, and Connor, 10.
Gossip columnists have long speculated that Cruise, 43, was incapable of fathering a child, despite Kidman falling pregnant in the last year of their marriage. She miscarried and used a paternity test during divorce proceedings to prove the child was his.
Cruise's publicist and sister, Lee Anne DeVette, confirmed yesterday that Holmes was pregnant. "They are expecting a baby (and) are very excited," she said.
At least one foreign newspaper has called into question the role of the Church of Scientology in the deflowering of Holmes.
England's The Sun reported that Holmes was encouraged by members of the church, often described as a cult, to start a family with Cruise before their nuptials in December.
The baby is said to be due in about six months. After two childless marriages and a string of relationships, Cruise's chances of siring a family were thought to be fading. His first marriage, to actor Mimi Rogers, failed to produce a child and his marriage to Kidman was dogged by rumours about their failure to conceive.
Cruise has been the constant butt of jokes about actresses wanting to further their careers through their association with him.
Just this week comedian Joan Rivers said Holmes's engagement to Cruise was a wise career move.
"Each woman has done very well by him - Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz," she said. "So this one ... who doesn't seem to have much talent, is probably the luckiest of all."

| I don't get it myself... He either has some awsome mojo working (just look at who he's had) or these women are pulling the wool over his eyes to get a leg up in Hollywood. The women he's been with are beautiful, but is he that gullible?

I think he's gay and hiding it by being with different women...in fact this child probably isn't even his, Katie just went out slumming one night a few weeks ago.

on katie though - definately a hottie but i recall a scandal mag a few months ago ran shots of her feet - let me say they where hurtin' for a pair of sneak...bunyons and corns and toes all sorts of phuked-up...even in these pics no toes or feet are vis, 'cept the b/w one....
shes still hot though ...
